Step-by-Step Setup
Step 1: Download Ledger Live
Visit ledger.com and download Ledger Live for your operating system. This is the official companion app for your Ledger device.
Step 2: Connect Your Device
Use the provided USB cable to connect your Ledger to your computer. Press both buttons to turn it on.
Step 3: Initialize as New Device
Select "Set up as new device" on your Ledger. Choose a PIN code between 4-8 digits that you'll remember.
Step 4: Write Down Your Recovery Phrase
Your Ledger will display 24 words one at a time. Write each word on your recovery sheet in order. Never photograph or type these words.
Step 5: Verify Your Recovery Phrase
Your Ledger will ask you to confirm several words from your recovery phrase to ensure you wrote them down correctly.
Step 6: Install Apps
In Ledger Live, go to the Manager section and install apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage.
Security Tips
Store your recovery sheet in a fireproof safe. Consider using metal backup plates for extra durability. Never share your PIN or recovery phrase with anyone.
